Job summary

Qualifications

• Instrumentation trade qualification or Mechanic Trade Certificate with practical experience in petrochemical environments.
• Experience working with field instrumentation, calibration, loop checking, and fault finding.
• Knowledge of DCS systems and hazardous area requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure work adheres to site safety standards and hazardous area regulations.
• Installation & Commissioning: Install and commission field instrumentation, conduct functional testing, and verify signal transmission to DCS systems.
• Calibration: Independently calibrate instruments, adjust accuracy, and maintain calibration records.
• Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnose faults, and assist in planned maintenance activities.
• Troubleshooting & Fault Finding: Analyse and resolve instrument and control system faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Documentation & Reporting: Communicate progress, report defects, maintain records, and complete required documentation accurately.
• Standby Duties: Participate in standby duties, respond to breakdowns, and provide technical support to ensure operational continuity.
• Experience: Working with field instrumentation, calibration, loop checking, and fault finding.

Position Overview

The Instrument Mechanic will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems at a leading petrochemical site in Sasolburg.

Key Responsibilities
