Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician in Randburg, Gauteng to ensure reliable operation of industrial machinery. The role involves preventative maintenance, diagnosing faults, and repairing mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems to minimize downtime and maintain safety.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 3 years’ experience, a relevant trade qualification, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (N3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
• Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics and blueprints.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and hand/power tools.
• Good troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to work shifts/overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all industrial machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on production machinery.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and implement effective repair solutions.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems before failures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and parts histories.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during maintenance.
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Operate hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in maintenance practices.
