Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our Randburg, Gauteng site. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose mechanical failures, and implement preventative programs to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.

The role requires a trade qualification or equivalent experience, strong troubleshooting skills, ability to read blueprints, and willingness to work shifts and be on call. A supportive team and opportunities for skills development are offered.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (N3 Mechanical Engineering) or minimum 4 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on a wide range of industrial machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues including gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.
• Install, dismantle, and reassemble machinery as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals to perform tasks.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and respond to breakdowns promptly.
• Assist in implementing new machinery and equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Manage spare parts inventory for maintenance operations.
