Placements24 client in Pretoria is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliable operation of all electrical systems in a modern industrial facility. The role requires hands-on maintenance, strong diagnostics, and a safety-first mindset.

The ideal candidate has a National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years in industrial electrical maintenance, with experience in motors, VFDs, control panels, and power distribution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience with AC/DC motors, VFDs, switchgear and power distribution.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• PLC troubleshooting and basic programming desirable.
• Knowledge of high-voltage safety procedures.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends/public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Develop preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair faults in machinery, control systems, and power networks.
• Respond to emergency maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and manuals.
• Inspect and test electrical systems and components.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and parts inventory.
• Ensure safety policies and lockout/tagout compliance.
• Collaborate with production teams to address bottlenecks.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians.
• Suggest improvements to systems and procedures for reliability.
