Job summary

Metrofibre in Pretoria seeks a Technical Sales Engineer for industrial automation. You bridge complex technical solutions with client needs, delivering pre-sales support, product demonstrations, and tailored proposals.

You will engage with manufacturing and process industries, analyze automation challenges, propose PLC/SCADA/HMI-based solutions, and work with engineering teams to ensure fit, while traveling within Pretoria and surroundings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related field.
• 5+ years in technical sales or application engineering in industrial automation.
• In-depth knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, VFDs and robotics.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into viable solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to engage technical and business stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel within Pretoria and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Engage with potential and existing clients in Pretoria to understand automation challenges.
• Provide expert technical consultations, product demos, and solution presentations.
• Develop customized technical proposals and quotations reflecting client needs.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure technical fit.
• Support the sales team with in-depth technical knowledge during the sales cycle.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing systems and identify upgrade opportunities.
• Troubleshoot issues and provide timely support during evaluation phases.
• Stay updated on PLCs, HMI, robotics and IIoT developments.
• Report customer feedback and competitor activities in Pretoria market.
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships with key clients.
