Job summary

Placements24 in Vereeniging, Gauteng, seeks an Electrical Technician specializing in automation and control systems to install, commission, service and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs and related equipment on automated production lines.

The role demands a National Diploma or N6 in Electrical Engineering, at least five years’ experience in industrial automation, and proven PLC/HMI expertise (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley), with fault diagnosis, schematics literacy and safe working practices.

Qualifications

National Diploma or N6 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial automation and control systems.
Proven PLC programming and troubleshooting experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
Experience with HMI software and configuration.
Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

Responsibilities

Install, wire, program, and commission PLCs, HMIs, and automation control systems.
Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on automated machinery.
Troubleshoot complex electrical and automation problems and implement solutions.
Read electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
Work with VFDs, MCCs, and distribution systems and collaborate on upgrades.
Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts.
Respond to emergency electrical issues during operations.
Support maintenance and engineering teams in projects.
