Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng is seeking an Electrical Control Systems Technician to install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems. The role requires strong electrical engineering knowledge and hands-on automation experience.

The successful candidate will read schematics, develop PLC programs, support production, and ensure safety standards are met while traveling to client sites within Gauteng as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma/N6 in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years' hands-on experience with industrial control systems.
• Proficient in Siemens S7 and Rockwell Logix PLC programming.
• Experience with WinCC or FactoryTalk View HMI/SCADA.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA software.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical control system faults, identify root causes and repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on control systems for optimal performance.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&ID diagrams, and control docs.
• Develop, modify, and test PLC programs to meet requirements.
• Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams.
• Collaborate with engineering on new automation projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain records of configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
• Stay updated on advancements in industrial automation.
