Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Control Systems Technician to maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and robotic equipment on our Vereeniging production lines. You will calibrate instrumentation, read P&ID diagrams, and ensure safe, reliable operation of automated processes.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on industrial automation experience and a strong background in electronics, instrumentation, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification in Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 3–5 years hands-on experience with industrial control systems, PLCs and HMIs.
• Strong understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Ability to read electrical, mechanical and P&ID drawings.
• Experience with instrumentation and control loop tuning.
• Knowledge of safety standards in industrial environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with shifts and call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and robotics.
• Calibrate and configure instrumentation and control devices.
• Read electrical schematics, P&ID diagrams and technical docs.
• Diagnose hardware/software issues in control systems.
• Apply software updates and patches for PLCs, HMIs, and controllers.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to optimize performance and upgrades.
• Ensure safety regulations and company policies during maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on control systems and equipment.
• Respond to alarms and restore systems quickly.
• Maintain detailed maintenance and configurations records.
