Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a compassionate school in Soweto to recruit a Special Needs Education Coordinator. The role leads support programs, develops IEPs, and works with teachers, families, and specialists to create an inclusive learning environment.

Ideal candidates will have 4+ years in SEN, SACE registration, and strong skills in curriculum adaptation, assessments, and advocacy for diverse learners. The position is hybrid, located in Soweto, Gauteng.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Special Needs Education or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in special needs education, preferably in a coordination or leadership role.
• SACE registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage IEPs for students with special needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt curriculum and provide strategies for inclusive classroom practices.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' learning needs and progress.
• Liaise with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and support strategies.
• Coordinate with external specialists, therapists, and support services.
• Provide professional development and training to teachers on special needs education strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of student assessments, IEPs, and progress reports.
• Advocate for the needs of students with special needs within the school community.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies related to special education.
• Foster a positive and supportive environment for students with diverse learning requirements.
