Placements24 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a dedicated Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to lead student support and inclusion initiatives within the school community. You will develop and implement Individual Education Plans, coordinate with teachers, parents and external agencies, and advocate for learners with diverse needs while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

The role blends on-site collaboration with some remote tasks, offering a supportive team and opportunities

Qualifications

• Develop and implement IEPs for diverse learners.
• Deep knowledge of inclusive education policies and practices.
• Ability to coordinate services across teachers, parents and external agencies.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor IEPs for students with SEN.
• Coordinate support services to meet diverse learning, physical, sensory, or behavioral needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure inclusive teaching strategies.
• Liaise with parents/guardians on progress and needs.
• Engage with external agencies and healthcare professionals for holistic support.
• Maintain accurate records of student needs and progress.
• Deliver staff training on SEN and inclusive practices.
• Stay updated on national SEN legislation and best practices.
• Advocate for SEN rights within the school community.
• Manage the school’s SEN budget and resources.
