Placements24 is seeking a Special Needs Early Childhood Educator in Soweto to support children aged 0-6 with diverse needs. The role focuses on tailoring instruction, developing IEPs, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, engage with families, and implement individualized plans to help each child thrive in a nurturing setting. This position emphasizes empathy, patience, and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education with specialization in Special Needs, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with young children (0-6) with diverse special needs.
• Understanding of child development, learning disabilities, and developmental disorders (e.g., autism, ADHD).
• Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs and other individualized support plans.
• Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills to work with children, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to manage a classroom with diverse needs.
• Patience, creativity, and a positive, nurturing attitude.
• First aid and CPR certification is required.
• Relevant professional qualifications and a clean background check are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with special needs.
• Provide direct instruction and therapeutic interventions to children, adapting methods to meet diverse needs.
• Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes inclusion and equal opportunity for all children.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other professionals (e.g., therapists, psychologists) to ensure a coordinated approach to child support.
• Observe and assess children's progress, documenting their achievements and challenges, and adjusting strategies accordingly.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively, using positive reinforcement and age-appropriate disciplinary techniques.
• Develop and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities that support the holistic development of each child.
• Maintain open and consistent communication with parents regarding their child's progress and well-being.
• Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
