Job summary

The role requires strong DAW skills, game audio middleware experience, and a solid grasp of acoustics and signal processing. You will mentor juniors and ensure audio quality across platforms.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showing exceptional sound design and musical composition for interactive media.
• Proficiency with DAWs: Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live or Cubase.
• Experience with game audio middleware: Wwise and FMOD.
• Solid understanding of audio engines and interactive implementation techniques.
• Excellent music theory knowledge and compositional skills.
• Familiarity with acoustics, signal processing and audio physics.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork, especially in a Midrand studio.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality sound effects, ambient soundscapes, and Foley for diverse interactive media.
• Compose original musical scores tailored to project needs, emotions and narrative arcs.
• Integrate audio assets into game engines and interactive platforms using industry-standard tools.
• Collaborate with game designers, narrative writers, and stakeholders to align audio vision.
• Optimize audio assets for performance and memory constraints across platforms.
• Record, edit, and mix voice-overs and dialogue to professional broadcast standards.
• Stay abreast of trends in sound design, music composition, and interactive audio.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior sound designers and composers.
• Manage audio assets and version control systems effectively.
• Conduct audio quality assurance testing and address identified issues.
