Job summary

Manpower Sa (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced ICT Engineer II to support and continuously improve core IT infrastructure across network, security, virtualization, backup and infrastructure environments.

This role entails hands-on problem-solving, managing VMware vSphere, MikroTik networking, Palo Alto firewalls and multi-site infrastructure, with emphasis on documentation, governance and incident resolution.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related field.
• 5-7 years' experience in enterprise ICT infrastructure, networking or systems administration.
• Hands-on experience supporting VMware vSphere, MikroTik networking, Palo Alto firewalls, networking, virtualization, storage and security environments.
• Experience supporting multi-site infrastructure environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with governance, change management processes and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and support enterprise infrastructure, including VMware vSphere and compute platforms.
• Support compute, storage and networking environments, including upgrades and optimization.
• Administer MikroTik networking environments, including routing, switching, wireless, VPN and VLANs.
• Administer and maintain Palo Alto firewalls, security policies and VPNs.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize network performance across LAN/WAN and multi-site environments.
• Support backup, replication, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and incident resolution.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and runbooks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors and partners to support projects.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced ICT Engineer II to support and continuously improve core IT infrastructure across network, security, virtualisation, backup and infrastructure environments.
This role is suited to an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys hands‑on technical problem-solving, working across complex ICT environments and contributing to the stability, security and continuous improvement of business‑critical systems.

• Administer, maintain and support enterprise infrastructure, including VMware vSphere and associated compute platforms.
• Support integrated compute, storage and networking environments, including infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and optimisation.
• Administer and support MikroTik networking environments, including routing, switching, wireless, VPN and VLANs.
• Administer and maintain Palo Alto firewalls, security policies, VPNs and related security controls.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise network performance, connectivity, availability and security across LAN, WAN, wireless and multi‑site environments.
• Support backup, replication, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing, recovery validation and infrastructure incident resolution.
• Support cloud‑based services, identity platforms, DNS, certificates, access control and externally facing services.
• Act as a Level 2 and Level 3 escalation point for infrastructure, networking and platform‑related issues.
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis and assist with resolving recurring technical issues.
• Support infrastructure automation and scripting initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, standard operating procedures and operational runbooks.
• Support infrastructure, networking and security projects, including implementation, testing, migrations and operational handovers.
• Work with ICT management, internal stakeholders, service providers, vendors and technical partners to support operational and project requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation and the reliability of ICT services.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking or a related field.
• 5-7 years' experience in enterprise ICT infrastructure, networking or systems administration.
• Hands‑on experience supporting:
  • VMware vSphere
  • MikroTik networking
  • Palo Alto firewalls
  • Networking, virtualisation, storage and security environments
  • Backup and disaster recovery technologies
• Experience supporting multi‑site infrastructure environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Experience working within technical standards, governance and change management processes.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Relevant industry‑recognised certifications will be considered.
