Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator for a reputable environmental nonprofit in the George area of the Western Cape. The role combines on-site engagement with a hybrid work model and requires you to recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support conservation programs.

You will maintain volunteer records, coordinate schedules, and foster a positive, inclusive environment while collaborating with program staff to identify needs and opportunities for growth within the volunteer network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; further certification in a relevant field is a plus.
• Experience in volunteer management or coordination.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Familiarity with George community is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, onboard, and train volunteers.
• Develop and maintain volunteer schedules and assignments.
• Supervise volunteers during shifts, providing guidance and support.
• Organize and lead volunteer appreciation events and activities.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records and databases.
• Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding opportunities, updates, and feedback.
• Assist in developing volunteer program materials and resources.
• Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures by volunteers.
• Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment.
