Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vibrant Event Coordinator to support a range of tourism-related events in Durban. The role blends on-site coordination with remote planning, working with marketing and operations to ensure successful conferences, festivals, and promotional activities under a flexible hybrid model.

You will manage logistics, vendor coordination, registrations, and attendee communication, contribute to post-event analysis, and help maintain budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in event planning or coordination, preferably within the tourism or hospitality sector.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, comfortable liaising with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively both independently remotely and as part of a team on-site.
• Familiarity with event management software and tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of various tourism events, both in-person and virtual.
• Coordinate with vendors, venues, and suppliers to ensure smooth event logistics and timely delivery of services.
• Manage event registration, ticketing, and attendee communication.
• Support on-site event management activities, including setup, on-the-day operations, and teardown.
• Contribute to post-event analysis, including feedback collection and reporting on event success metrics.
• Maintain event budgets and track expenses, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
