Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Network Engineer for a hybrid role based in Randburg, Gauteng. You will design, deploy, and maintain core network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability across services.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of telecom networking experience, strong IP networking skills (BGP/OSPF), and familiarity with VPNs, ACLs, and firewalls. Excellent problem-solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in telecommunications network engineering.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, BGP/OSPF, and switching.
• Experience with network security (VPNs, ACLs, firewalls).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage core network infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Implement and maintain network security protocols.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions.
• Develop and maintain network documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions.
• Evaluate new network technologies and recommendations.
• Participate in on-call rotations for network support.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
