Placements24 in Soweto is seeking a Solar PV System Designer to join our client’s team. The hybrid role focuses on the technical design of residential, commercial and industrial solar systems, ensuring efficiency, safety and compliance with SANS and NRS standards.

You’ll collaborate with sales, project management, and installation crews to deliver accurate, timely designs and documentation. The ideal candidate has an electrical engineering background, 3+ years of PV design experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years designing solar PV systems.
• Experience with PVSyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of SANS, NRS and SA electrical regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design rooftop and ground-mounted PV systems for diverse clients.
• Create single-line diagrams, electrical schematics and BOMs.
• Size systems, select modules, inverters, batteries, and balance of plant.
• Ensure designs comply with SA electrical codes and standards.
• Prepare technical documentation and project specifications.
• Provide technical support to sales during proposals.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Conduct site assessments when required.
• Stay updated on new solar technologies and best practices.
• Troubleshoot design issues during installation and commissioning.
• Drive continuous improvement of design processes.
