Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Renewable Energy Project Engineer for a hybrid role in Soweto, Gauteng. You will design, size, and specify solar PV and battery energy storage systems, coordinating with project teams and external partners to deliver high-quality projects.

The role requires a solid engineering background with at least 4 years in renewables, software like AutoCAD/PVsyst/Homer, and strong problem-solving and collaboration skills. Occasional site visits in Soweto are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the engineering and design of renewable energy systems, with a focus on solar PV.
• Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed engineering design for renewable energy projects, including system sizing, component selection, and layout optimization.
• Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials.
• Conduct technical site assessments and feasibility studies for potential projects.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
• Support the procurement process by preparing technical specifications for equipment and services.
• Collaborate with construction teams during installation and commissioning, providing technical guidance and resolving site issues.
• Perform performance monitoring and analysis of operational renewable energy systems.
• Stay current with advancements in renewable energy technologies, particularly solar PV and energy storage.
