Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an innovative Electrical Engineer specializing in Solar PV for a hybrid role in George, Western Cape. You will design, develop, and implement large-scale solar projects, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety of installations.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least five years of PV experience, with proficiency in PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of SA regulations and SCADA is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Solar PV system design and engineering.
• Proficiency with PV design software (PVsyst, Helioscope) and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of power electronics, inverters, batteries, and grid-tie systems.
• Understanding of local electrical regulations and renewable energy policies in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer solar PV systems, including component selection, string sizing, and array layout.
• Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and installation plans for PV systems.
• Perform energy yield assessments and feasibility studies for potential solar projects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and interconnection requirements.
• Manage the electrical aspects of project execution, from procurement to commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and external stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during installation and operation phases.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and best practices in solar energy.
