Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Officer in George to support procurement operations in a hybrid work environment. You will manage the acquisition of raw materials, components and services, maintain optimal inventories, and ensure supplier performance aligns with quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a relevant qualification in procurement or supply chain and 3–5 years’ experience in purchasing, with strong negotiation and communication skills to collaborate across departments.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in procurement, supply chain management or related business discipline.
• 3–5 years in purchasing or procurement.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Source and evaluate potential suppliers, obtaining quotes and negotiating prices to achieve best value.
• Maintain and update purchasing records, including vendor information, price lists, and order histories.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
• Expedite outstanding orders and resolve delivery or quality issues with suppliers.
• Assist in developing and implementing purchasing policies and procedures.
• Conduct periodic reviews of supplier performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Liaise with the finance department to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processes.
• Stay informed about market trends and industry best practices relevant to procurement.
