Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Petroleum Geologist for a hybrid role in Tembisa, Gauteng, ZA. The position blends in-office collaboration with remote flexibility to support exploration and development strategies.

The candidate will interpret subsurface data, identify reservoirs, and build integrated geological models with Petrel/Kingdom Suite, working with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to guide drilling decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or related geoscience.
• Minimum 6 years of petroleum geology experience.
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation and well log analysis.
• Experience with geological modeling software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong knowledge of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Ability to collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze seismic, well log and core data to define geological structures.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs and estimate their volume and quality.
• Develop geological models and maps using Petrel/Kingdom Suite.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretations with models.
• Work with petrophysicists to analyze well log data and reservoir properties.
• Provide geological input for drilling programs and well planning.
• Contribute to risk assessment and uncertainty analysis for prospects.
• Prepare geological reports and presentations for teams.
