Placements24 in Pretoria, Gauteng, seeks a Petroleum Geologist to contribute to exploration initiatives in a hybrid role balancing on-site collaboration with remote work. You will interpret geological data, develop and refine geological models, evaluate petroleum systems, and collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate subsurface datasets.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geology (Master’s preferred) with 5+ years of petroleum exploration geology experience

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related Earth Science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum exploration geology.
• Proficient in Petrel and GeoGraphix for data interpretation and modeling.
• Strong knowledge of basin analysis, structural geology and depositional environments.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and understanding of geophysical concepts.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze and interpret geological data, including seismic, well logs, core samples, and scout data.
• Develop and refine geological models for exploration prospects.
• Evaluate petroleum systems and assess geological risks for new ventures.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate subsurface datasets.
• Contribute to the generation and ranking of exploration opportunities.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration activities.
• Stay abreast of the latest geological technologies and methodologies relevant to exploration.
• Participate in field trips and regional studies as required.
• Support well planning and operational geology as needed.
