Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geologist to join the exploration and development team in Centurion, Gauteng. You will interpret seismic data, build subsurface models, and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects while coordinating with engineers and geophysicists.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in Geology with at least five years of Oil & Gas experience and is proficient in Petrel, GeoGraphix, or Kingdom. Hybrid work arrangements are offered to support project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Geologist in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological interpretation and modeling software (Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom).
• Strong understanding of seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core description.

Responsibilities

• Interpret geological and geophysical data, including seismic surveys, well logs, and core data.
• Develop and refine subsurface geological models to delineate hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Assess the potential for new exploration opportunities and evaluate prospectivity.
• Provide geological input for field development planning and reservoir characterization.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretations with geological models.
• Conduct field studies and core analysis to understand depositional environments and reservoir properties.
• Prepare geological reports, maps, and cross-sections for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to risk assessment and uncertainty analysis for exploration and development projects.
• Stay updated on geological technologies and methodologies relevant to the Oil & Gas sector.
• Maintain geological databases and ensure data quality and integrity.
