Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Personal Lines Underwriter for our client in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on evaluating personal insurance risks for home, motor, and travel, ensuring profitability and compliance with underwriting standards, while maintaining excellent client relationships.

This hybrid position combines in-office collaboration in Rustenburg with remote workdays, offering opportunities to interact with brokers, analyze risk factors, and develop underwriting

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal lines underwriting.
• Strong understanding of personal insurance products, policies, and underwriting principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and standard office applications (e.g., MS Office Suite).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
• A relevant qualification in insurance or a related field is advantageous.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Adaptability to changing market conditions and underwriting requirements.
• A professional demeanor and commitment to ethical conduct.

Responsibilities

• Assess, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal business for personal lines insurance products (e.g., home, motor, travel).
• Evaluate risk factors, including property characteristics, driving records, and financial stability, to determine insurability and premium rates.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with insurance brokers and agents to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date policy records and underwriting documentation.
• Identify and report on emerging risks and market trends within the personal lines segment.
• Collaborate with the claims department to understand claim patterns and their impact on underwriting.
• Assist in developing and implementing underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives.
• Provide support and guidance to junior underwriters and administrative staff as needed.
• Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
