Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Vereeniging to design and develop mechanical components for industrial process equipment. You will translate client needs into detailed specs and production-ready drawings, using CAD tools.

You will perform stress/thermal analyses, collaborate with manufacturing, prepare BOMs, and drive design for reliability and cost-effectiveness in a hybrid workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3-5 years of mechanical design experience in process equipment or industrial machinery.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and familiar with FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of statics, dynamics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for industrial process equipment.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
• Perform stress, thermal and vibration analyses to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize for production and cost.
• Prepare BOMs, specifications, and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical support to project managers and sales teams.
• Troubleshoot design issues during manufacturing and testing.
• Stay updated on industry standards and materials science.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the engineering department.
