Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer near Polokwane to lead the design of heavy-duty industrial machinery and automated systems. You will drive CAD-based concepts, perform analyses, and deliver BOMs and drawings while mentoring junior engineers.

The role offers a hybrid work model, collaboration with manufacturing and controls teams, and opportunities to innovate and improve reliability across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the design of industrial machinery or automated systems.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and proficiency in FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead technical initiatives.

Responsabilités

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of industrial machinery and automated systems using advanced CAD software.
• Perform stress analysis, vibration analysis, and other engineering calculations to ensure equipment durability and safety.
• Develop comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing drawings for new and existing equipment.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, automation, and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and the production team.
• Investigate and resolve mechanical issues in existing equipment to improve performance and reduce downtime.
