Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Structural Draughtsperson in Port Elizabeth to translate structural designs into precise drawings and 3D BIM models. You will coordinate a drafting team, liaise with engineers, and ensure compliance with SANS and building codes while maintaining drawing quality and archival systems.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in structural drafting, with at least 2 years in a lead role, and strong AutoCAD and Revit Structure skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years as Structural Draughtsperson with at least 2 years in a lead/supervisory role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit Structure; familiarity with other BIM tools a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed structural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, reinforcement details).
• Create 3D models of structural components using BIM software.
• Coordinate drafting tasks, review junior draughtsmen work for accuracy.
• Ensure drawings comply with SA standards (SANS) and codes.
• Collaborate with engineers to clarify design intent and resolve issues.
• Manage drawing revisions and archiving systems.
• Assist BOQ preparation from structural drawings.
• Contribute to drafting standards improvements.
