This role is essential for translating structural engineering designs into accurate and detailed construction drawings and models. The Lead Structural Draughtsperson will be responsible for coordinating the drafting team, ensuring the quality and consistency of all drawings produced, and liaising with engineers to clarify design intent. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with advanced CAD software and a strong understanding of structural principles within the context of the South African construction industry. Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed structural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and reinforcement details, from engineering designs.
• Develop 3D models of structural components and assemblies using BIM software.
• Coordinate the drafting workflow, assign tasks to junior draughtspeople, and review their work for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and building codes.
• Collaborate closely with structural engineers to interpret design requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage drawing revisions and maintain an organised system for drawing control and archiving.
• Assist in the preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) based on structural drawings.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting standards and procedures within the team.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a relevant technical qualification.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience as a Structural Draughtsperson, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
