Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to lead facilities and layout design initiatives in Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA. The role focuses on optimizing the physical workspace to improve operational flow, safety and efficiency across manufacturing and distribution centers, with a hybrid work model.

You will design layouts, analyze material handling systems, collaborate with operations, maintenance and safety teams, and develop project plans, timelines and cost estimates to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial engineering with facilities design, layout planning, and material flow optimization.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) and simulation tools (AnyLogic, FlexSim).
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and its application to facility design.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment and systems.
• Excellent spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Effective project management and communication abilities.
• Experience working in a Hybrid capacity.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing facility layouts and identify opportunities for workflow and space improvements.
• Design new layouts and optimize existing ones using CAD and simulation tools.
• Develop material flow and logistics strategies within the facility.
• Evaluate equipment and systems for material handling and storage.
• Ensure designs comply with safety regulations and ergonomic best practices.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and safety during design and implementation.
• Develop project plans and timelines for layout changes and facility modifications.
• Estimate costs associated with facility layout projects.
• Maintain documentation of facility designs and workflows.
