Placements24 seeks a skilled Geophysicist to join our exploration and production team in Richards Bay. This hybrid role blends remote work flexibility with essential on-site collaboration to interpret seismic data and contribute to subsurface models.

You will identify hydrocarbon traps, integrate seismic with geological information, and perform attribute analyses to support reservoir characterization. The ideal candidate holds a master's or PhD in geophysics with 6+ years of industry experience

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or related earth sciences.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in exploration geophysics (oil & gas preferred).
• Proficiency with seismic processing and interpretation software (Petrel, HampsonRussell).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing workflows, and geological principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; capable of hybrid collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Process and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify subsurface structures and potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Integrate geophysical data with geological and engineering information to build subsurface models.
• Conduct geophysical attribute analysis and inversion studies to enhance reservoir characterization.
• Evaluate risk and uncertainty of exploration prospects and development opportunities.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations of geophysical findings for technical and management audiences.
