Placements24 is seeking a Community Development Officer to lead needs assessments and design community-based projects in education, health, and economic empowerment. You will engage with residents, local leaders, and NGOs to drive sustainable development in Mahikeng, North West.

The role requires strong facilitation, reporting, and collaboration skills, with a hands-on approach to empower local communities and improve quality of life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Previous experience in community development work, preferably within an NGO setting.
• Strong understanding of community engagement methodologies and participatory approaches.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work with diverse community groups and build rapport.
• Experience in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Proficiency in report writing and basic financial management.
• Knowledge of the socio-economic context of Mahikeng, North West is essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A commitment to social justice and community empowerment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct community needs assessments and identify key development priorities.
• Design, plan, and implement community development projects in areas such as education, health, and economic empowerment.
• Facilitate community consultations and encourage active participation in project development and implementation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local authorities, and other NGOs.
• Mobilize community resources and foster local ownership of development initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate project progress, impact, and sustainability.
• Prepare project reports, proposals, and budgets.
• Organize community workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
• Act as a liaison between the community and the organization's management.
