Placements24 in Pretoria is looking for a Design & Development Mechanical Engineer with a Master’s degree and 8+ years of experience to lead innovative mechanical design projects and take concepts to prototyping and market readiness in a hybrid work setting.

You will collaborate with R&D, marketing and manufacturing, apply SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS for CAD/CAE analyses, and contribute to patents, publications, and iterative product development in a forward‑thinking, research‑driven

Qualifications

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
8+ years of experience in product design and mechanical development.
Proficiency in SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, 3D printing).

Responsibilities

Conceptualize and design innovative mechanical systems and products using 3D CAD software.
Develop prototypes and conduct testing to evaluate performance, durability, and safety.
Perform detailed engineering calculations including stress, thermal, and dynamic analysis.
Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Document design specifications, test procedures, and manufacturing guidelines.
Stay current with emerging technologies and propose new design approaches.
