Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mechanical Design Technician to support its engineering team in Queenstown. You will create and modify detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings and models from engineer designs, ensuring accuracy for manufacturing and assembly.

This role is an excellent entry point for those passionate about mechanical design and gaining practical experience. You will work with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor, assist with BOMs, maintain archives, and collaborate with manufacturing to resolve

Qualifications

Diploma or NC in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
1–3 years of experience as a CAD technician or drafter.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
Good understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
Basic knowledge of GD&T is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Prepare and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings according to engineering specifications.
Assist engineers in the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other documentation.
Ensure all drawings comply with company standards and industry best practices for clarity and accuracy.
Support prototyping and testing phases by providing necessary design files and documentation.
Maintain and organize engineering drawing archives and revisions.
Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve documentation-related queries.
