Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in South Africa seeks an Inside Sales Engineer focused on HVAC to support Africa customers.

Based in Johannesburg, you will translate field inputs into standard and tailored solutions, while coordinating with outside sales and service teams for maximum customer success. You will manage proposals, pricing, and quoting using CPQ, MS Word, and Excel; collaborate with distributors and field ops; and drive orders through to ERP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of sales/estimation experience in HVAC Chiller & I-REF.
• Strong knowledge of chilled water systems.
• Experience reviewing service PPM reports.
• Experience costing in MS Excel and CPQ.
• Prepare quick quotes in Word & CPQ tool (5–10 proposals per day).
• Coordination with operation/front line sales teams.
• Identify backlog of unsold opportunities and outbound follow-ups.
• Negotiation with clients and order booking in ERP.
• Experience with Salesforce CRM.

Responsibilities

• Review AMC site service/PPM/call out reports.
• Create proposals using Word, CPQ, and pricing tools.
• Collaborate with local Field Ops and Sales teams.
• Record onsite asset counts and site details.
• Review PPM reports and MRF for labor/materials.
• Provide pricing guidance and identify upsell opportunities.
• Review proposals before submission and secure DOA approval.
• Outbound calls and emails to follow up orders.
• Update SFDC from opportunity creation to close.
• Coordinate with Customer Service, Outside Sales, and demand planner.
• Generate reports on quotations vs success and market trends.
