Placements24 is seeking an HR Compliance Officer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will ensure HR policies comply with BCEA, LRA, POPIA, and other laws, and conduct audits and training.

The role requires strong remote collaboration and ability to explain complex compliance requirements to a distributed workforce. Ideal candidates have a law or HR background, 5+ years in HR compliance, and experience drafting policies.

About the Role

This role is vital for ensuring that all HR policies, procedures, and practices align with current South African labour legislation and industry best standards. You will be responsible for the continuous review, development, and implementation of HR policies, ensuring they are understood and applied consistently across the organization. Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant South African labour laws (BCEA, LRA, EEA, POPIA, etc.). Conduct regular HR compliance audits and risk assessments across all business units. Investigate and resolve any compliance-related issues or grievances promptly and effectively. Advise management and employees on HR compliance matters and best practices. Develop and deliver training programs on HR policies and compliance requirements to employees and management. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in labour legislation and industry trends, and advise on their impact. Manage the implementation of new HR policies and ensure their successful integration into the organization. Oversee the fair and consistent application of disciplinary and grievance procedures. Collaborate with legal counsel and external advisors on compliance matters as needed. Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation for all HR compliance activities. Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Law, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree is advantageous. A minimum of 5 years of experience in HR compliance, policy development, or labour law, preferably in a remote or hybrid setting. In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation, including BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA, BBBEEA, and POPIA. Proven experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring HR policies and procedures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote environment. Proficiency in HRIS systems and standard office software.
