Elchemie in Johannesburg is seeking a Floor Supervisor for Hotel Housekeeping who will lead guest room inspections and uphold strict cleanliness standards across public areas. You will supervise a team, manage rostering, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key duties include quality control, staff coaching, HR support, health and safety compliance, and reporting maintenance issues. The role requires flexible shifts (days/nights, weekends) and reliable transport to Sandton for handovers.
Floor Supervision & Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms (transitioning Vacant Dirty to Vacant Ready) and public areas to uphold strict hotel cleanliness standards. Team Leadership & Rostering: Assist with room allocations, shift rostering, daily briefings, attendance tracking, and packing/issuing GSA caddies and linen. Guest & Client Satisfaction: Maintain professional relationships with hotel guests and client management, address minor queries immediately, and ensure strict SLA compliance. Resource & Chemical Control: Monitor daily consumption of cleaning chemicals and consumables, assist with monthly stock takes, and ensure equipment is properly maintained and reported. Staff Development & HR Support: Provide hands-on, on-the-job training for junior cleaning staff, assist with basic HR matters, and enforce company IR policies. Health, Safety & Maintenance: Timely report maintenance issues, conduct toolbox talks, and strictly adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) protocols.
Work Experience: Proven supervisory experience strictly within Hotel Housekeeping Operations (Hotels, Resorts, or Boutique Hospitality environments). Industry Knowledge: Hands-on understanding of room inspection workflows, hotel hygiene standards, chemical safety/MSDS, linen management, and room turnaround procedures. People & Client Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage junior staff with respect, maintain teamwork, and handle client interactions professionally. Shift Availability: Fully available and willing to work flexible shift rosters, including day/night rotations, weekends, and public holidays as required by hotel operations. Transport: Must have reliable, dependable transport to and from work in Sandton for scheduled shift handovers. Compliance: Solid understanding of workplace health and safety (OHS) procedures and basic HR/disciplinary processes.
