Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment seeks an Assistant Hotel Manager in Franschhoek to elevate service quality and operational efficiency under the Hotel Manager. You’ll guide teams to meet objectives, ensure world-class guest experiences, and manage day-to-day front-office, housekeeping, and F&B operations.

The role demands a proactive, solutions-driven leader with strong communication, financial acumen, and integrity in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hotel management or similar leadership role.
• Diploma in Hospitality Management or Tourism is advantageous.
• Advanced computer skills including MS Office and email/internet.
• Experience with Protel PMS is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure world-class service across the hotel as measured by guest feedback.
• Implement policies, processes and standards for guest safety and preferences.
• Monitor equipment usage and stock consumption to reduce waste.
• Develop systems to capture guest preferences while protecting privacy.
• Attend meetings to stay informed on developments within the team and organisation.
• Maintain knowledge of Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B procedures.
• Foster employee engagement and conduct performance feedback.
• Enforce discipline according to Code of Conduct.
• Collaborate with third-party suppliers to deliver excellent service.
• Prepare and propose annual budget with finance to support quality service.
• Manage rosters, attendance and leave to control staffing costs.
• Monitor Night Auditors and ensure accurate daily financials.
• Reconcile floats regularly to prevent discrepancies.
• Train on SOPs and keep team updated on procedures.
• Identify opportunities for quality improvement and implement them.
