Job summary

Placements24, a prestigious winery and hospitality establishment in Stellenbosch, seeks a Head Sommelier to oversee the wine program across multiple dining venues and lead a team of sommeliers. You will curate the wine list, manage cellar inventory, and train staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Ideal candidates hold Advanced Sommelier certification with at least 5 years as a sommelier and 2 years in a head/senior role, with deep knowledge of international wine regions and wine

Qualifications

• Advanced Sommelier certification and 5+ years as a sommelier.
• Experience in Head Sommelier or senior role (2+ years).
• Extensive knowledge of international wine regions and vintages.

Responsibilities

• Curate, manage, and update the wine list to ensure high quality and diversity.
• Lead and train the sommelier team for excellence in service.
• Manage wine cellar inventory, procurement, storage and rotation.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and guest service.
• Train staff on wine knowledge and pairing.
• Collaborate with culinary team for pairings.
