Placements24 connects you with a renowned restaurant in Paarl seeking a sophisticated Sommelier to curate an exceptional wine program. You will guide guests through a diverse list of local and international wines, manage procurement and cellar operations, and train staff to elevate service.

The role requires a Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET Level 3+ certification, 3+ years in fine dining, and deep knowledge of global wine regions.

Qualifications

• Sommelier certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a sommelier or senior wine-focused role in fine dining.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, grape varietals and pairing principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the restaurant's wine list with diverse, high-quality selections.
• Manage the wine cellar including inventory control, purchasing, and storage.
• Provide expert wine recommendations to guests and assist with pairings.
• Conduct wine training sessions for service staff to enhance knowledge and upselling capabilities.
• Oversee correct serving temperature and presentation of all wines.
• Stay current with global wine trends, vintages and producers.
