Placements24 presents an opportunity at a prestigious Stellenbosch wine estate and dining destination. The Sommelier & Wine Manager will curate the entire wine program, oversee cellar inventory, and guide guest wine recommendations to elevate dining experiences.

The ideal candidate has certification as a sommelier, at least four years in a senior wine role, deep knowledge of global wine regions and pairings, and strong service and training skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Sommelier certification (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3 or higher).
• Experience as a Sommelier or senior wine manager with 4+ years is required.
• Deep knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, vintages, and food pairings.

About the Role

Our client, a prestigious wine estate and dining destination in Stellenbosch , is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier & Wine Manager . This role is responsible for curating and managing the entire wine program, from cellar inventory to guest wine recommendations. You will play a key role in enhancing the guest dining experience through expert wine pairings and education, as well as managing the wine cellar and purchasing. The ideal candidate possesses an exceptional palate, extensive wine knowledge, and refined customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, curate, and maintain an exceptional and diverse wine list, reflecting quality and value.
• Manage wine inventory, including purchasing, receiving, storage, and cellar organization.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and exceptional service to guests in the dining room.
• Conduct wine training for F&B staff to enhance their knowledge and service capabilities.
• Manage wine tasting events and educational experiences for guests.
• Monitor wine sales performance and implement strategies to drive revenue and profitability.
• Maintain relationships with wine suppliers and distributors.

Requirements

• Certification as a Sommelier (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3 or higher).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Sommelier or in a senior wine management role.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, vintages, and food pairings.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Experience in inventory management and wine purchasing.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
