Job summary

Pro Talent seeks a Head of Operations for a Ship Suppliers & Exporters company based in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town. You will provide leadership, set operational priorities, and drive performance across sales, warehouse and finance, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will lead a hands-on, strategic executive team, driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with laws and internal directives from Cape Town base.

Qualifications

• Matric and a suitable tertiary qualification in B.Com/Business Management.
• At least 10 years in a senior leadership role with extensive management experience.
• Shipping/port experience preferable.
• Sound accounting knowledge with ability to perform financial reviews.
• Based in Cape Town and willing to be hands-on in daily operations.
• Excellent planning, organizational and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas:

• Providing overall leadership for the operation setting operational priorities, providing leadership and direction, and driving operational performance.
• Accountable for the management and performance of the sales, warehouse, and finance departments to support profitability targets.
• Work closely with the Senior Management team to achieve objectives including, financial; productivity; margin improvement and customer satisfaction targets.
• Drive continuous improvement through employee involvement, improved methods, and adoption of best practices.
• Ensure compliance with local and international laws.
• Implement Group policies and directives and ensure adherence.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• A suitable tertiary qualification i.e., B. Com/ Business Management
• Self -starter with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role with extensive management experience
• Shipping/port experience preferable.
• Sound accounting knowledge and experience with the ability to do financial reviews.
• Responsible and hands‑on leader with an eagerness to be fully involved in the daily operations.
• Analytical and strategic mindset with excellent business acumen
