Job summary

Schlemmer in Richards Bay is seeking an experienced Ship Agent to take ownership of vessel operations in a busy port environment. You will coordinate vessel arrivals, berthing, and departures while liaising with Owners, port authorities and service providers.

The role requires solid shipping knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask under pressure. You will manage crew changes, logistics, and regulatory paperwork, delivering timely updates to Owners.

Qualifications

• Matric required.
• Shipping experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with MS Excel.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all operational matters for assigned vessels in line with Owner's requirements.
• Coordinate vessel arrivals, port stay activities, and departures.
• Liaise with port authorities, suppliers, and third-party service providers.
• Manage crew changes, spares logistics, and technical requests.
• Ensure all documentation and regulatory requirements are completed accurately and on time.
• Provide continuous updates to Owners on vessel status and requirements.
• Arrange transport, accommodation, and airport collections for crew and visitors.
• Handle dispatch and receipt of goods, including courier and freight coordination.
• Attend port meetings and assist with berth planning processes.
• Maintain accurate records and update internal systems.
• Coordinate Stowguard deliveries and support related services.
• Support team members to ensure all operational requirements are met efficiently.
