About the Role

Our client, a prominent retail group with a significant presence in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, is looking for an accomplished and forward-thinking Head of Logistics and Supply Chain. This senior management position is responsible for overseeing the entire logistics and supply chain network, ensuring the efficient flow of goods from procurement to delivery. The role requires strategic leadership, robust operational planning, and a keen eye for optimization opportunities. This is a hybrid position, balancing critical on-site leadership at our Mossel Bay facilities with the flexibility of remote work for strategic planning and administrative tasks. You will lead a dedicated team and play a pivotal role in enhancing the company's competitive edge through superior supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for logistics and supply chain operations.
• Oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and distribution.
• Optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance delivery times.
• Lead and manage the logistics and supply chain team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
• Implement and utilize technology solutions to enhance supply chain visibility and performance.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align supply chain strategies with business goals.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing complex supply chain networks, preferably within the retail sector.
• Demonstrated success in optimizing supply chain operations and reducing costs.
