Placements24 is seeking a Regional Supply Chain Director to lead end-to-end supply chain operations for the Mossel Bay area in the Western Cape. The role focuses on procurement, logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution, driving cost savings and service improvements.

You will oversee regional planning, manage supplier relationships, mentor a team, and develop budgets and KPIs to align supply chain activities with business objectives across Mossel Bay and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, logistics, or related field.
• Master's degree or APICS certification preferred.
• Minimum 8 years in supply chain with 4+ years in senior leadership.
• Proven experience in regional supply chains incl. warehousing, transportation, and inventory control.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent national retail chain, is searching for a strategic and results-driven Regional Supply Chain Director to lead their supply chain operations for the Western Cape region, based out of Mossel Bay. This senior management position will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the supply chain, including procurement, logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of supply chain complexities, a passion for operational efficiency, and a demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and enhance service levels. You will be instrumental in optimizing the flow of goods, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand across Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA and surrounding areas. This role demands a visionary leader who can navigate the challenges of a diverse and evolving market.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the supply chain within the designated region, including planning, sourcing, and distribution.


• Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.


• Manage relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.


• Lead and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.


• Develop and manage the regional supply chain budget, ensuring financial targets are met.


• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.


• Ensure accurate inventory management and optimize stock levels across all distribution channels.


• Drive the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions within the supply chain.


• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align supply chain operations with business objectives.


• Manage risks within the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.


• A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., APICS) is preferred.


• Minimum of 8 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role.


• Proven experience in managing complex regional supply chains, including warehousing, transportation, and inventory control.


• Strong understanding of supply chain planning software and ERP systems.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.


• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions.


• Experience in the retail sector is highly desirable.


• Knowledge of the Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA geographical area and its logistical challenges is a plus.


• Ability to develop and manage budgets effectively.
