About the Role

Our client, a prominent national retailer with a growing presence, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Logistics and Supply Chain Manager to oversee their operations across the beautiful Garden Route region, with primary oversight from Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This role is critical for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective flow of goods from suppliers to distribution points and ultimately to retail outlets. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing warehousing, transportation, inventory, and demand planning for the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic leader to optimize supply chain processes, drive efficiency, and contribute significantly to the company's success in this key geographical area. We are looking for an individual with strong analytical skills and a proven ability to manage complex logistics networks in a regional context.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the logistics and supply chain functions for the Garden Route region, based out of Mossel Bay.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize transportation, warehousing, and inventory management across the region.
• Oversee the operations of regional distribution centers, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and carriers, negotiating contracts and monitoring performance.
• Implement demand planning and forecasting processes to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.
• Monitor and analyze key supply chain performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with national supply chain teams and regional retail operations to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
• Manage the regional supply chain budget, controlling costs and identifying opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including transportation and warehousing standards.
• Lead and develop a team of supply chain professionals within the region, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a strong understanding of retail operations.
• Proven experience managing regional supply chains, ideally within the Western Cape, and specifically the Garden Route.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and inventory control techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage supplier and 3PL relationships effectively.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Proficiency in relevant software, including ERP systems and advanced Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different departments.
• Adaptability and willingness to travel within the Mossel Bay and wider Garden Route region.
