Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Automotive Electronics Engineer to head the Infotainment Systems division in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will guide a team of engineers through concept, prototyping, validation and production launch for next‑generation head units, displays and connectivity modules in vehicles.

The role requires 8+ years in automotive electronics, 3+ years in leadership, deep embedded software and hardware expertise, and familiarity with ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 8+ years in automotive electronics with at least 3 years in leadership.
• Experience in infotainment systems: head units, displays, audio, connectivity.
• Strong embedded systems knowledge and software/hardware integration.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, AUTOSAR and automotive standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of electronics engineers responsible for infotainment system development.
• Oversee hardware design for infotainment, including PCBs, power management, and signal integrity.
• Manage software–hardware integration and ensure seamless functionality.
• Define system requirements and specifications for new infotainment features.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, UI/UX and testing teams.
• Drive validation and testing to meet automotive standards and performance targets.
• Manage supplier relationships for electronic components and modules.
• Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in automotive infotainment and connectivity.
• Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development for infotainment systems.
