Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Automotive Software Engineer in George, Western Cape, SA. You will spearhead embedded software for in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions in a hybrid work setting.

You will collaborate with hardware, product, and UI/UX teams, define standards, implement tests, and ensure compliance with automotive standards, contributing to cutting-edge user interfaces and connected car technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
7+ years in embedded software development; 3+ years in lead/senior role in automotive.
Proficient in C/C++ and RTOS (QNX/Linux/Android Automotive).
Experience with infotainment/telematics/connected car software.
Familiar with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, AUTOSAR.
Experience with Git, CMake, and debugging tools.
Strong leadership and communication skills; Agile/Scrum experience.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and integration of embedded software for automotive infotainment systems.
Define software architecture, coding standards, and best practices for the team.
Collaborate with hardware, product, and UI/UX to define requirements and specs.
Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests to ensure quality.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
Troubleshoot and resolve defects and performance issues throughout the lifecycle.
Stay current with automotive software technologies and industry trends.
Contribute to development process and tool improvements.
