Placements24 is seeking a Lead Automotive Electronics Engineer to head the Infotainment Systems division in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will guide a team of engineers through concept, prototyping, validation and production launch for next‑generation head units, displays and connectivity modules in vehicles.

The role requires 8+ years in automotive electronics, 3+ years in leadership, deep embedded software and hardware expertise, and familiarity with ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR.

Competenze

• Bachelor's or master's in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 8+ years in automotive electronics with at least 3 years in leadership.
• Experience in infotainment systems: head units, displays, audio, connectivity.
• Strong embedded systems knowledge and software/hardware integration.

About the Role

Our client, a recognized leader in automotive electronics, is looking for a dynamic Lead Automotive Electronics Engineer to head their Infotainment Systems division in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This senior role involves overseeing the design, development, and integration of cutting-edge infotainment and connectivity solutions for vehicles. You will lead a team of talented engineers, guiding them through the entire product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to validation and production launch. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in automotive electronics, particularly in areas such as head units, display technologies, audio systems, and connectivity modules (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular). A strong understanding of embedded software, hardware-software integration, and automotive communication protocols is essential. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive electronics engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead role.
• Proven expertise in designing and developing automotive infotainment systems, including head units, displays, audio processing, and connectivity (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and embedded software development.
• Experience with hardware design tools and simulation software.
• Knowledge of automotive standards such as ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, and relevant connectivity standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Experience with UI/UX principles for automotive interfaces is a plus.
