Job summary

Travel Innovation Group in Cape Town seeks a Groups Specialist to join our fast-growing SaaS travel group. The position is permanent and full-time with shift hours from 09:00 to 20:00, Monday to Friday, and occasional weekend work (26–32 Saturdays or Sundays per year) paid at overtime.

You will manage inquiries and bookings, build relationships with airline partners, and contribute to sales targets while maintaining accuracy and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Ideally have travel industry experience, particularly within a Flights or Groups department.
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
• Be commercially astute with a strong customer service ethic.
• Maintain high levels of accuracy with great time management.

Contract Package:

The breakdown of your normal hours will be by agreement with your manager covering nine hours (including one-hour unpaid lunch break) on a rota basis between 09:00 and 20:00, Monday to Friday. Additionally, you will be required to work a minimum of twenty-six (26) and a maximum of thirty-two (32) Saturdays or Sundays per year as part of your contract if required. Any work performed on these weekend shifts will be compensated at an overtime rate of 1.5 times your hourly wage.

Basic salary plus ‘after 18:00 allowance’, non-contributory pension scheme
(6% contribution from the company), 13th month payment, health insurance and potential travel to the UK.

Tasks & responsibilities include:

• Stay on top of airline deadlines for deposits, balance payments, name submissions, and ticketing.
• Ensure timely receipt of payments from clients to meet deadlines.
• Develop a strong understanding of the market and competitive landscape.
• Follow up on queries via phone or email.
• Build strong relationships with staff at airline partners.
• Stay aware of and work towards achieving sales targets.
• Assist with answering phones in other departments during peak times.
• Make informed commercial decisions regarding margins and pricing for each booking.

The successful candidate will:

• Ideally have travel industry experience, particularly within a Flights or Groups department.
• To take on extra responsibilities and be able to deputise for the Senior Sales Specialist in their absence.
• Work closely with your Senior to be able to feedback any problems with agents, processes, or staff members.
• Proactively suggest improvements that would lead to efficiencies or increased revenues.
• Ideally have knowledge of airline GDS.
