Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mine Surveyor near Durban with a focus on geotechnical monitoring. You will measure and map mine workings, infrastructure, and geological structures to support safe mining practices. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and collaboration with geotechnical engineers and mine planners.

You will operate advanced surveying equipment, ensure compliance with standards, and contribute to safety and operational integrity in a busy mining environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor with geotechnical surveying.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, total stations and GPS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-precision surveys of mine sites, including underground workings and surface infrastructure.
• Implement geotechnical monitoring programs measuring ground movement and stability.
• Process and analyze survey data, creating maps, models, and reports.
• Ensure compliance with surveying standards and legislative requirements.
• Operate and maintain total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
• Collaborate with geologists and engineers to provide spatial data for planning and safety.
